
The well known Amazon Kindle e-book, thus far only based in US is going global effective from October 19, 2009. However it is only available to about a 100 odd countries globally.

The international version of Kindle have the same specs used in US – a 6″ diagonal E Ink® anti-glare display, slimline 8″ x 5.3″ x 0.36″ footprint, 2GB internal memory which can hold up to 1500 books and weight just 0.29kg.

As slim as a normal pencil
The Kindle is charged by USB 2.0 or from a power outlet in around four hours. According to Amazon, a fully charged battery can last up to four days with wireless function and up to two weeks with wireless off.

Kindle is a one off purchase and the ebooks which cost around us$10 are purchased separately. Amazon claimed that any of its digital book can be downloaded within 60 secs through the 3G or 2G networks. Currently there are more than 300,000 books plus top newspapers, magazines, and blogs in its database. Price wise, it costs us$259 excluding shipment.
